In my mid 40s, chronic knee pain almost ruined my life. My joints often burned, ached and felt sore. Four doctors and two physical therapists failed to help me. I was told I'd never get better. So, using my journalism training, I researched deeply, reading scientific studies and parts of medical textbooks. I also experimented with many things. What I learned was nothing short of amazing. Bad knees can heal (mine did, after I developed my own recovery program), but much of the medical community's thinking about "patellofemoral pain syndrome" is dangerously bad. To inspire others, I decided to tell my story of discovery in a book: "Saving My Knees."
